The Rev. Stephen Malkiewicz, OFM, SHST's Associate Director of Human and Spiritual Formation, is the 2011 recipient of the Vatican II Award for Service in Liturgy from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

For more than a quarter-century Fr. Malkiewicz, has played a major role in the formation of priests, deacons and lay ministers during his priestly ministry. He came to SHST after 13 years spent at Saint Francis de Sales Seminary in Milwaukee as director of worship, and teaching courses in liturgy and sacraments.

Fr. Malkiewicz is a member of the American Franciscan Liturgical Commission, of which he previously served as chairman, and works on other liturgical bodies within his order. He has shared his expertise on topics such as the Mass, the sacrament of reconciliation and, most recently, the Roman Missal translations, with parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

The award will be presented at a Nov. 8 ceremony at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee.
