Dr. Sherry Blumberg named the 2012 Milwaukee Jewish Educator of Year

Sherry Blumberg, Ph.D., a frequent part-time lecturer at SHST, has been named the 2012 Milwaukee Jewish Educator of Year by the Coalition for Jewish Learning, an arm of the Jewish Federation of Milwaukee.

Blumberg is a member of the Executive Committee for SHST’s Lux Center for Catholic Jewish Studies. She also leads an evening scripture study group at the seminary for members of the local community.

The award began in 1982 to honor Ateret Cohen, a distinguished educator, and has been bestowed each year since then. It is given to a "teacher of excellence" making a significant contribution, and who has been teaching or leading a Jewish educational program for at least five years in Milwaukee.

Blumberg was praised for sharing her "wealth of knowledge and love of Judaism" and was said to "teach, inspire and uplift her audience bringing new ideas or placing a new spin on old ideas.”
