The Sacred Heart School of Theology community is deeply saddened by the senseless killings at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin on Aug. 5.
This tragedy reminds us of the importance of honoring every individual’s search for God, and developing a spirit of tolerance in the world. Above all, we strive to hear God’s call for us to love one another.
As Catholics, we are mindful of the teachings of the Second Vatican Council, whose 50th anniversary we mark this year. Vatican II calls for increased dialogue and understanding among different faiths. This tragedy is a stark reminder of the importance of that fundamental value.
The Sacred Heart School of Theology Community will keep in prayer those who have died, their families and the entire Sikh Temple of Wisconsin community.
