Fr. Ndomba, 2013 grad of SHST M.A. Program, to head Mvimwa Abbey in Tanzania

The Right Rev. Denis Ndomba, OSB, 50, has been named abbot of Holy Spirit Abbey-Mvimwa in Sumbawanga, Tanzania by the Ottilien Missionary Benedictines.

The community, with 64 monks, operates boarding schools with more than 1,000 students, a medical clinic, and a farm. The community was established in 1979, and became an abbey in 2001.

Fr. Ndomba received his Master of Arts degree from Sacred Heart School of Theology in May, 2013. 

Previously he served as novice master and as a parish priest at Christ the King parish in Sumbawanga, Tanzania. He began his studies at Sacred Heart in 2008.

The abbey's first abbot was Fr. Basil Ngaponda, OSB. His term expired after 12 years in office.
