The Feast of the Sacred Heart, Friday, July 1, will be observed at the Sacred Heart Monastary and School of Theology starting with Eucharist at 11 a.m. in the main chapel.
The feast celebrates devotion toward the love of God as symbolized by the heart of Jesus. It was formally established in 1856 by Pople Pius IX. Observed 19 days after Penticost, this year if falls just one day before its latest possible date.
The Mass will be followed by a luncheon, tours of Sacred Heart School of Theology, and a silent auction. The Very Rev. Tom Cassidy, SCJ, superior of the United States Provice of the Priests of the Sacred Heart, will preside.
